Portrait IntroductionI prefer not to work with photographs, as a portrait is really an expression of the interaction between a painter and the sitter. Toward the end of sittings, photographs may be helpful to finish some details without the sitter's presence. When photographs must be used, as in the case of a posthumous portrait, additional help can usually be acquired from relatives and friends as well as videotape.
